Founded by Alain & Soolan

We’ve worked professionally in the world of weddings for over 30 years, worked with The Ritz for over 20 years, and owned Villa Norbu since 2008. Starting as wedding photographers, and as members of Getty Images, we’ve served weddings around the world, stayed at the best event spaces in the world, and learned the ins and outs of the industry that has helped us create Villa Norbu – a venue truly made for our brides – and paramount wedding experience in the Caribbean.

We have our own private catering team, and we work exclusively with hand selected, Ritz-Vetted, top vendors in the Virgin Islands, who do great work.

Unlike major hotels, we only offer weddings. This means we’ll provide you a private experience, with no strangers or other weddings happening at the same time – where you are our first thought, never our second thought, from start to finish.

Our Venue

A Villa by the Sea

Villa Norbu is a jewel of a location, tucked away near Magens Bay in St Thomas. Our venue is most special because there are no overnight accommodations – creating a wow factor when everyone shows up to a magnificently curated experience, all for you.

Working at other venues, we noticed the upset expressions on brides when they were promised something more exclusive and private than it was. We noticed how photos looked better than the reality, after years of parties and wear and tear accommodating thousands of people. All of this detracts from the experience. Villa Norbu is set apart by this. It’s all yours. You will see no one else. No one stays here overnight, so the quality is easily maintained. There are perfect places for photos on our property.

Our team at Villa Norbu is set apart because they want to be there. They are a family, and they want to put out their best performance. Unlike many locations, we don’t have a hard time keeping our staff, as they are paid well, and fed well, eating the same quality our clients eat.

I can’t thank Alain and his team at Villa Norbu enough. He captured our vision perfectly. He was excellent at dealing with with me someone who has worked in industry and my mom whom I called a Momzilla. We had so many amazing surprises for our guests that Alain pulled off from cultural dancers, stilt walkers (mokojumbies), rum and cigar bar along with all of the traditional aspects of the wedding reception. The ceremony was a different story our day of coordinator was very flustered and never attended to our needs. Luckily I had a friend who has day coordinate come to our rescue. Overall I would work with him again to plan another wedding.

How can we give more than 5 stars? We cannot thank Alain, Soolan and their entire team at Norbu enough for making our dream wedding a reality. Alain and Soolan went above and beyond assisting us, providing advice and recommendations, and planning with us for months in advance. There was no request they did not their hardest to accommodate. Alain made introductions to vendors, including the taxi service that was critical to getting all our guests to the wedding, but also ended up helping us on multiple days.  It goes without saying that the Norbu property is beyond beautiful, providing varying spaces all in one location. They provide all the necessary items for setup, wait staff and then some. Everything their exclusive chef made was delicious and beautiful, and generously portioned. These are people who take great pride in putting on a beautiful, flawless event, meticulously paying attention to every little detail, and even more so they are genuinely kind, generous, patient people. We feel so lucky to have partnered with them for our special day – it was the best choice we could have made and we wish we could live it all over again already.

Our wedding at Villa Norbu was perfect! The venue is one of the most beautiful spots on the island and the staff was amazing. Alain is a one stop shop and was extremely helpful in providing us with contacts for places to stay and things to do on the island. He made our destination wedding so easy and stress free!
